According to the June 2007 issue of HealthData Management, over 70% of health plans are promoting the idea that physicians adapte new technology to more efficiently measure performance. The growing trend of moving to a pay-for-performance method of compensation forces physician offices to look for new technology that will allow them to gather the required data.
Why is this important to physicians like you?
Pay-for-performance is the newest and fastest growing method of compensation in the healthcare industry. In order to know how much you should be compensated, you have to gather data about how you performed. But gathering data from patients, doctors, staff, etc., can be tedious and expensive. By automating the process, you save time and money in both the short and long runs.
AutoData Systems provides software solutions that will help your physician office collect the data that you need. Our software follows the three simple steps of what we call The AutoData Process:
- 1. Design your form with questions and response types
- 2. Publish the form on paper and/or web to your patients, staff, doctors, homecare staff, etc.
- 3. Gather data quickly and easily by downloading the data from the web and/or scanning the paper forms. Generate automatic reports, or perform your own data analysis from the database that is populated instantly by AutoData software.
Imagine handing an evaluation form to a patient whom you cared for, and within a matter of minutes of their completing it, having their information in a database—then having AutoData run automatic reports on how that person’s care measured up to that of other patients!

Case Studies
Physician practice saves money on billing services with AutoData software.
A 30-physician specialty practice was looking for a way to decrease the costs associated with patient billing. The organization was sending paper forms to its billing company, which the billing company then key-entered into its computer system and used to generate HCFA forms. Implementation of AutoData Scannable Office allowed the practice to use a scannable form that captures procedural and diagnostic codes, patient ID, date and surgeon.
The software extracts this data from the paper forms and places it in a database, allowing the practice to send the data to its billing company in electronic format, thereby eliminating key entry. Sending the data electronically has reduced the billing company's costs, and the practice has been able to negotiate discounted fees as a result. More recently, the practice also began using AutoData Systems software to automate patient satisfaction surveys and medical record review forms.
Satellite clinic utilizes AutoData software to measure patient satisfaction.
A clinic affiliated with a large multi-specialty practice adopted AutoData Systems software to automate patient satisfaction surveys for quality assurance purposes, processing approximately 6,000 forms per year. The clinic is happy with the software because it saves time, reduces labor costs, and speeds the processing of patient satisfaction data, which produces more timely results. Staff also say "It's just much easier to do" than when the surveys were processed by hand.
