A 30-physician specialty practice was looking for a way to decrease the costs associated with patient billing. The organization was sending paper forms to its billing company, which the billing company then key-entered into its computer system and used to generate HCFA forms. Implementation of AutoData Scannable Office allowed the practice to use a scannable form that captures procedural and diagnostic codes, patient ID, date and surgeon.
The software extracts this data from the paper forms and places it in a database, allowing the practice to send the data to its billing company in electronic format, thereby eliminating key entry. Sending the data electronically has reduced the billing company's costs, and the practice has been able to negotiate discounted fees as a result.
